The New Facebook Fan Page

Posted on February 15, 2011

By now I am sure you have heard about the changes to the business pages on Facebook. Many of you, like me, may worry about how these changes will effect our customization abilities. Although it is still unclear how things will change here are a few things that make this new change fantastic for page admins:

You now have the ability to act as the page. This means you can make comments and like other pages as the page rather than your personal profile. This is great if you want to keep the two separate.
Admins will now have the ability to receive email updates when fans interact with the page. It only took Facebook 7 years to figure out that admins want to know when their fans are making comments or new fans are liking the page…FINALLY you now will know and can respond in a timely manner.
iFrame is now used to customize pages. Although FBML is being pushed out page admins will still be able to customize their pages with the use of iFrame. The great thing about this is you will be able to use html and java rather then the FBML code that has been giving us all headaches for years! REJOICE.

Keep in mind that those who already have FBML tabs, those tabs will continue to work but you will not be able to add any new FBML content after the change is complete.

For those of you who are wondering how they will be able to use iFrame here are some resources I found that I think will help:
